The MSR car was 888 racing spec and the Team Sydney car is also, according to 888, and has full 888 backing. Garry should be familiar with a car that is a blood brother with last years car. Hopefully, whichever sponsor is paying for his ride will provide enough money to cover continual upgrades. Next year he should have a brand new 888 gen 3 car,

Did he drive the MSR car well? I can't recall him racing, based on TV.

Between the 4th Kelly car, a MSR car and the 2nd Tekno car, Garry certainly hasn't had the best of equipment. I hope he does well.

Three teams in 3yrs for Jacobsen...hopefully he gets a couple of seasons at Team Sydney at least, it can only help him. And the team probably need to keep these two guys for minimum two years to start moving up the grid.

Would love to see a resurgence now that they are pulling in good drivers and engineering staff.

I was looking at the drivers for 2021 and realised that many apparently got their drive by bringing sponsors to the team, effectively pay drivers.

Bryce Fullwood-Middy's

Jack Smith-SCT

Jack le Brocq-Truck Assist

James Courtney-Boost

David Reynolds-Penrite. (effectively free, so a lot cheaper than Rick.)

Fabian Coulthard- Existing sponsor, Local Legends, offered to increase their sponsorship to get Fabian in the drive.

The second Team Sydney car will almost certainly have a pay/funded driver.

Macauley Jones-well, Daddy does own the team.

Mainly because of all the Triple Eight customer Commodores, is the short answer. Walkinshaw customer cars is the second answer, BJR switched originally to Walkinshaw customer Commodore, likewise Erebus picked up Wakinshaw customer Commodores originally.

Back when Peter Beehag caged Ford Falcon bodyshells were readily available, privateers like Prancing Horse Racing, PWR, BJR, Briggs Motorsport (aka 888 Race Engineering) and Cameron McLean racing were actually more inclined to run Falcons.



Note the "tripleeight.com.au" decal on the Peter Beehag-constructed BA Falcon Briggs Motorsport chassis. FPR also ran such chassis, until both 888 and FPR decided to fabricate their own in-house for better control of tolerances and quality control.

Fun fact: Lowndes' green-eyed monster was carefully designed and built in-house, while Crompo got a Beehag off-the-shelf body!

With regards to the BJR/Bowe #12 history lesson, thanks, falcon cobra & glenn. I did not get going in Supercars until the 2008 season. A tick before my time here.

I was going to say the same muz. Ford might have less entrants but they are all quality entries. Take away the bottom 8 tail Enders who are mainly small holden teams and the story would probably look different.

At the risk of nostalgia, but it does relate to current 2021 teams..

Walkinshaw cars were purchased by BJR and Erebus (and GRM) to kick start their Holden involvement. All three had a Ford history.

And the Kellys purchased Perkins built cars to start their team. (And Mum and Dad Kelly ran Walkinshaw built cars for their two Supercar Championships). I could be wrong, but I think that Walkinshaws used Perkins built equipment initially.

I can't think off hand of any team except DJR that doesn't have a dalliance with both Ford and Holden. Even then Dick has a pre DJR Holden history and raced a Holden Gemini in the DJR era.

All the eight non=888 Holdens in 2021 will feature many 888 bits.
