Yer they have been bowled out on all five occasions, although yesterday in 49.2 overs.

Went to the game yesterday and they did everything they could to get the win, but our bowling always produced wickets at the right time. So pressure is definitely the main issue, although if Johnson CHarles had of stayed in for a few more overs they really would of had a much better chance.

The first bit of news is that the uniform is going to be basically green and white, yes you heard white! Maybe to conform with the dress standards like what we see at Wimbledon so it is more formal and respectful - but still I don't think it gives it that competitive feeling we want as Aussies as we would rather the green and gold.

People sandbag in Motorsport, or when there is a flood. In a swimming race, there is no opportunity to sandbag as there are others that go hard out in heats no matter what. So the moment that you attempt to 'sandbag' someone else will snap up your spot. Unlike Motorsport, there is no guaranteed entry to the next session.

A brave assertion, but one Griffith University researcher Dr Nicholas Rohde says he can prove with statistics.

Rohde says by applying economic principles to batting performance, he has been able to rank players back through time.

"People are welcome to disagree and there would be other statistical ways of looking at it which would give you different results," he told AAP.

Rohde said his obsession with cricket led him to the idea of coming up with a ranking system, even if it did mean trying to marry sport with economics.

"No ranking system is definitive so it's halfway between being serious and a bit of fun," he said.

"I don't see it as entirely trivial, but it isn't an indisputable result either; it's somewhere in the middle.

"My feeling is that devotion to Don Bradman probably robbed India of a national icon a little bit. And if you wanted my personal opinion on who was the better of the two, Bradman or Tendulkar, I would say that it was perhaps too close to call."

To work out who should be regarded as the best of all time, Rohde took the total number of runs a batsman has scored in his entire career, and subtracted the number of runs that an average player of the same era would have scored if they'd played the same number of innings.

He constantly updates the figures and calculates new ranking tables.

"Bradman has been number one until recently, but Tendulkar for the time being is just a little tiny bit ahead.

"No ranking system is definitive and people are always free to disagree, although I do feel it's a fairly sensible and intuitive way to rank the players."

But he said if he could time travel and had the choice of watching Bradman or Tendulkar play a Test, he would go for Bradman every time.


We have to also take in consideration what both of these players have done in different eras, but Sachin Tendulker is brilliant, most overall runs ever in test match cricket, and the other records he has, but Don Bradman was in a completely different time in cricket compared to Sachin Tendulker, because we never actually got to see Brabman that much and what he coulda achieved in cricket if he played for the amount of time Sachin Tenfulker has, but if I had to chose one it would always be Sir Donald Brabman, just because he in my mind was the greatest!

If our curators don't prepare hard green tops that all behave like the WACA, they need their arses kicked - 4 quicks would be a good option then.

Cummins, though, is the perfect example of young bowlers being wrapped in cotton wool TOO much - I agree with their workload being monitored, but only being able to bowl 6 over spells under the age of 19?? Please.....
Do we want warriors as fast bowlers who want blood, or should we be handing out baggy green skirts?




But, to be fair, a number of the young bowlers coming through are 'green' in the sense that they don't get much first class experience and exposure before they make the leap to Test or one-day cricket, so the team coaching staff are just taking the cautious option of limiting their spells and not trying to over-bowl them.

I just wonder whether t/20 is doing yet another disservice to the greater game of cricket being test cricket of just instilling into bowlers that ability to be able to bowl over short-spells of 2-3 overs rather than the longer ones heading up to 10 overs. I mean it wasn't so long ago that you saw McGrath and the like of that era bowl nearly the entire first session.
