Superstocks run a variety of engines on a couple of basic chassis styles.
An example shown here of a typical superstock - this one is Stan Hickey's from Rotorua. Stan uses a Ford engine in this one.

Also running are what's known as tanks - this one is an example of a Podjursky recently built for the Wade family. This one iirc is running a Nissan quadcam. This bugger, despite its appearance is bloody quick. Last weekend it took 3rd in the Waikato Superstock champs, this weekend it clean swept a club meeting at Huntly Speedway.

Am a huge fan of Stockcar / Speedway racing (better known as NZ Stockcar Crazy!! but registered as HoldenChickie on this site, felt it more appropriate for V8 Central) - am the track photographer for Huntly Speedway (www.huntlyspeedway.co.nz), webmaster for the Waikaraka Park Track website (www.waikarakapark.com) & also run my own site NZ Stockcar Crazy!! (www.nzstockcarcrazy.com) as you'll see photo links by Smeged34 on this thread already!

Nice to see Stockyboy (Stu) and Darren 51P on this site as well!

More information about Frankie Wainman Jnr's car can be found at this link here, http://www.515r.superstock.co.nz/cgi-bin/control.pl?Function=Display&Item=mh_fwj.txt

That is also Stan Hickey's official website.

Cheers,

Onne, you have to get some video footage of these things .... they smash each other off the track, I have never seen anything like it in Australia.

Yeah Palmy team champs is in January I think. I'll be going down there for that, complete with video camera, spare batteries and heaps of tapes!

At some stage I might be sticking some footage up on youtube - will post links on here if/when I do.

Correction smeged34 ;) Palmy Team Champs is in February. (Feb 9 & 10, 2007).

World 240's are in Rotorua on January 19 & 20 -- this is where a few overseas drivers normally race.

"Footage of this sort of racing" I hear someone ask?

Try this link here: http://www.666motorsport.spotmysite.com/default.php?hash=0

That was held over the weekend of the 10th-11th February this year, although it was affected by rain iirc.

Wild?? that was like a war zone out there- makes our Brisca F1's look like ***** cats, and that Palmy concrete wall sure took a hammering. Local team won though bashing the Nelson crew into submission.
EDIT 26/11....fresh on from the success of the Palmerston races I hear we are to get some more in 2 weeks. The World 240's and some sort of standard stocks are scheduled to be shown.

More good racing Saturday night at Rotorua's Hydraulink Speedway.

Youth Ministocks, Minisprints, Stockcars, Superstocks & Modifieds.

Tank style Huntly Superstock put on a good show. The teams racing next week in Huntly will be awesome!

Of particular interest to me was the final race for modifieds. The Ward brothers were up from Stratford with 77S Craig Ward winning the first 2 races with 19R? Scott Lane 2nd in both. In the final race, Lane started up front and shot out to a good lead. 77S started near the back but quickly worked his way through to 2nd with the help of his brother in 55S, how started on the front row if I recall correctly, and held the rest of the smallish field up to allow his brother to come through. Once 77 was past, 55 picked up the pace. However 77 spun and was relegated to the back on the restart. Same thing happenned. With 55 obviously holding back to enable 77 to come through again. 77 needed to finish better than 3rd in order to avoid a runoff for 2nd with another car. No one, including comentators seemed to mind the team tactics, which were obvious to all. Definetly a disadvantage to all other races who do not have team mates to help them!

77 & 19 were the class acts of the field, with 55 next then a gap to the others.

It was a pity that Paul Ward had problems in the first race, he really gave Jamie Fox a hard time at the Huntly meeting the week before, even after a spin :) It was a good meeting tho - yes, we went down there too - and good to see 85H Jared Wade stirring it up in the tank :)

We'll be at Huntly this weekend: I'll probably be up on the pitcrews stand with a video camera while Holdenchickie will be the one out on the infield with the camera :)

The infield seems a hairy place to be as they hammer on the grass just as hard as the track!!
