Can be, but as long as you can run a few metres in a very short time if you see a car heading off towards you, then it's all good.

Ya get used to it after a while tho. A long lens on a Digital SLR helps too :)

Well Huntly went off alright... Yaz managed to avoid getting taken out on only one occasion, the Ward Brothers were doing mighty fine in the modifieds, as was Jamie Fox, who took 1st= placing with Craig Ward.
Chris Picknell didn't fare as well, clipping the back of a backmarker in the first race and having a nasty looking roll, but its all good, his wallet was smarting more than he was, he even caught up with us in the clubrooms to find out if Yaz got any good pics of it after the meeting. I caught it on camera, and here it is....

http://www.nzstockcarcrazy.com/video/Picknell_Roll.wmv

Yaz's infield shots were superfluous: see them here. however note they are shown in reverse order for some reason....

Minisprints: 1NZ Shaun Cooke blew another chance at beating 2NZ Mark Edwards for a 2nd week in a row, breaking a steering arm after relatively light contact in the feature when he and Mark were equal on points in the Waikato Championship.

Waikato Wanderers vs Rotorua Rebels - this was a warmup for team champs in Palmy next year. Waikato were ruthless against Rotorua who went out with only 3 cars after one of them blew its head gasket in the warmups. An outclassed Rebels side got cleaned up fairly quickly by Scotty Redfern and Jared Wade who worked well as a blocking team while Dave Roidgard ran away with the flag.
Dont panic: I will be highlighting this and youtubing this over the next couple of days. Or at least trying: xtra's been living up to its reputation as the worst ISP lately and my net's been less than reliable over the last few days.

Thats the Huntly wrapup for this meeting: a full review can be found on NZ Stockcar Crazy!! after tomorrow. and may Mal keep eating those burgers that Mintie sends his way, makes for interesting commentaries, anyway.

Also I'd like to add my condolences to the Waikaraka Park committee and those who worked with them, particularly vice president Frank Irvine following the passing of Janice Dresden, a tireless worker for Waikaraka who died last Friday after a long illness.

Update: This comment came from 55S Paul Ward after seeing the images on Macgors and the video clip posted above...
"Great set of photos and well caught on video too."

Thanks, Paul, thats much appreciated from us....

Just had the World 240's shown here, when after Brit Frankie Wainman winning his first two heats, a local put paid to that by taking him to the concrete and wrecking the front of his car. Also seen some more team racing from Mana-somewhere when the wrecking took on a whole new meaning!!

"Manawatu" is the "somewhere" you're looking for.
And I just saw a photo of 8p Scott Miers tank with some serious rollcage damage after this weekends racing at Palmy! They play rough down there.

Roll on the 240s - they'll be on in Rotorua during January.

Also Huntly Speedway are now hosting some of my video clips - http://www.huntlyspeedway.co.nz - bookmark it because I'll be putting together some more for them in the near future.

We have some more coming on next Friday from Hawkes Bay, what is that likely to be??
Wainman has apparently made his own car this time round and shipped it down to NZ, and several other drivers are rumoured to be going.

That should be an interesting watch, especially as we don't have "outlaws"...??? But yeah, I would assume that it will be sprints and they are using the term Outlaws as most are familiar with it as being Sprint Cars.

Mind you, we had 3 Yanks here so yeah, why not call it Outlaws.

Interesting is putting it mildly Viper. Came from Bay Park Raceway, Maunganui(spelling?) in 06 when the races came over 3 days. Lots of Yanks in the field, really excellent stuff with a huge crash in the 3rd days A Main. I really hope that our Motors TV will get the WSS back again this time, as we do not get to see any sprintcars over here hardly at all.
