Well guys,

Here's a topic I think Trickyone has neglected.

How will these two under-acheievers in 2006 perform in 2007?

Murphy is going to a new team, basically starting from scratch in terms of knowing teh team and fitting in.

Skaife will continue with the same old people and team environment.

Both teams are apprently going to start in brand new VE Com-dores (yes, the name has been shortened to reflect the actual race car
)

No data to rely on from previous years, no 'second hand' chassis or old engine excuses. Brand new season, brand new cars.

In no more than 50 words per driver, cast your eye over the crystal ball and tell us how you see seasons 2007 going for Murphy and Skaife. Metachromatic defragmentation scot monophyletic aerograph interact gastrointestinal phenazone.

Murph is 34 and Skaife is turning 40 very soon. If Skaife continues to drop away in pace with age then that should leave Murph with the most outright pace.

But they've both shown a liking for concrete and dirt this season. Hell they even crashed into turn 8 together this year!

Skaife should win out though. He has the better car and team, but if he pushes too hard he will make mistakes. Murphy in Daddys team will be interesting. Tasman have been quick at some tracks and slow at others. When its quick, Murph will fire. But when the car struggles Murph will not be able to wring its neck.

This is incredibly tough to compare 2 drivers who usually fill positions 20-30 come race time. I'll keep it Safe and put the money on Skaife, but I think if Skaife drops to around 23rd position then Murph will be there for a fight.

All I can say is I hope that we all remember other past champions with a little more respect than is being shown for Mark Skaife. I'm not his greatest fan, but nobody deserves this kind of treatment. Especially not a five times champion. Regardless of which side or who you support.

Mark Skaife has also taken more poles and race wins than anyone else this season and the same points system that some of you are calling a joke when applied to Craig Lowndes is just as responsible for Skaife's poor overall position.

Brownbag, please don't hijack this thread.
It is a thread open for comment, hopefully positive, about how we think these two drivers will go in 2007.
I dont want it to turn into a driver-bash or b!tchfest.
If you have something relevant to say with regards to this thread, please post it here. If not, please find another thread or start one of your own.

I think you set the tone of this thread by calling multiple Championship and Bathurst winners 'under achievers'. Forgive me if I didn't take this topic too seriously after I read that remark.

I'll take your advice and simply not respond to this topic.

both will have better years than this year. Both will have an all new commodore, which could be a concern though. If both there teams can get to grips with the VE and HRT can learn to put wheels on properly and get back to building reliable cars there is no reason why skaife cant fight for the championship and tasman to fight for race wins.

Both have underacheived, you are right. But I reckon it will change next year, especially when HRT concentrate more on racing and not the VE.

Murph will be at a whole new team, with what should be a much much much better car!

I am sure Murphy will go into season 2007 with a totally fresh approach which should be good for his motivation. A change is often great for motivation, and if he gels well with his new team he may get some good results.

Time will tell...

Skaife will be back up in the Top 5 next year, and Murph will be hovering around 20th in 2007, and Bright will be around the Top 15, if he isn't I would be very suprised.

Skaifey will be top 5, Close but not close enough to win the Championship

Murphy will be outside the top 20 once again.

Want to put HOLDEN1's Chesney on that.

Seriously both drivers have had shockers this year.
They both just need to review there seasons and see where thye went wrong.

A lot has been said of Murphy having a crap car. Didn't he right off a brand new one in Adelaide, which means that if he has had to do the season with the old car he has nobody to blame but himself
