Gathering by your username, a relative of Tony Bates, whos driving antics are less than to be desired at the best of times.
But the actual category should be great to watch next year, as has been the case this year. And good to see administration take the hard line with their forum and hopefully they will take a similar line regarding regulations for the 2007 season.
All in all this category should be used for a step up into the Development series, but it is overlooked. Don't know exactly why though.

What do I think of Commodore Cup?
Kind of a pointless series when compared with post 2006 Saloon Car's, considering Saloon cars are newer, within a second of Commodore Cup cars at most circuits, has more competitors (as well as both State and National level competition) and is a fair bit cheaper to build and maintain a car!
So what does this have to do with V8 Supercars? |

I hear Commodore Cup has a new media manager and commentator for 2007 - I wonder who that could be...? |

Not at this stage... unless someone wants to give him $60 000 worth of sponsorship (in which case I reckon he would be a championship contender). |

60,000 worth of sponsorship. That is a lot of money for Commodore Cup sponsorship. Perhaps halve that value and he might be a little closer to a realistic mark, me thinks anyway. |

No, I actually spoke to one of the teams and they said it is about $60 000 per year. The cars are worth $45 000 each, then consider operating costs, airfares, accommodoation, fuel and tyres, and you're easily looking at 60 grand before you even think about panel damage. |

Maybe if you want a VS. But certainly not a VH. But anyways anyone wanting 60k of sponsorship in CC must be kidding themselves! And if they do get it, someone can forever hail them for me.
Looking forward to the news you can bring to the forum though. |
