*I'm sorry I know the GT Championship isn't mainly on the CAMS series but it's perviously been on here
Well Round 1 and 2 went well with reports saying a great event, Round 3 is at Bathurst this weekend and looks great... Championship standings are:
225 Allan Simonsen - Ferrari 360 GT 169 David Wall - Porsche GT3 RSR 156 Bryce Washington - Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 126 John Teulan - Ferrari F430 106 Peter Lucas - Lotus Elise Sport
~ Ian Palmer has just got his new Gallardo GT3 Lambo so there is now 2 ~ Alan Simonsen will now contest the rest of the championship now after originally only doing round 1 & 2 ~ Peter Hackett still hopes Lamborghini Australia will run ~ John Bowe would like to contest the series ~ Porsche Australia are looking into the series
So the rest of the year looks good and potentially it's future!
Just a note, Bryce Washington in his Gallardo GT3 smashed the Lap Record by going from a 2:14.3267 which was set by the 427 Monaro's down to a 2:12.6963. Great drive to take Pole, Fastest Lap and Race 1 Win....congrats to Bryce. This could be the first win by the Gallardo GT3 in the world!? http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?08/04/2007.MOUN.R7
Looks like the races between Washington and Wall have been good that going on Natsfot times for race length. With Simonsen 3rd in both races so far will do his championship a good deed but i would love to see him able to latch onto the tail of the lead two cars
An interview with Porsche Australia said they believe that although Carrera Cup is great for them it doesn't prove anything against other competitors such as Ferrari and Lamborghini and they will look to possibly run a car or two in Aus GT in the future, I believe Jamie Blakie who was head of Cup Car until Sherrin take over is now Porsche Australia Motorsport Manager or similar role as well
