Yes, Winton have spent a bucket load of money to upgrade the power and part of that was to take power around to the campground, but I think at this stage it is only for the ammentities blocks, not for use at campsites.

As for your generators, go your hardest, I camp, but not at the track.

And Yes there are quiet spots, try to get a spot as far away from the ammenities blocks, i think right over on the eastern fence would be OK. The eastern fence is the furtherst point from the main ammenities blocks.

Trev, there was talk after last years event that they would be gradually extending the size of the camp ground as it filled up to prevent too many wide open spaces on the early nights. I believe the theory was to encourage people to camp at the northern end and slowly grow south as the camp ground filled up.

I s'pose we'll find out more in two weeks time when the AMRS hits town.

I don't think there is enough people to control that, the south west corner is always the first to fill.

why dont they simpy block out the areas for people? if they got the stuff that you lay on the grounds for soccer and football fields and did it that way people could just rock up to a block. free spots can then be taken by other campers.

They need to organise camping like they do at such events as Falls Festival - works well.

It's a great weekend, we head up Friday morning grab a camp site up by the fence, grab a spot at the track and set up for the Weekend, only time the car gets moved is Sat morning to head into Benally for more ice etc. I take firewood etc with me but you often see the lads heading off with trailers and chainsaws etc. Take warm clothes as it gets cold.

Staff is always an issue, remember Winton is owned and operated by a Car Club (Benalla Auto Club), but like the band thing I will mention it to them. I think it is too late to do anything this year as many people have already booked and paid for camping spots, but I will mention it to them.
