I was there today - no incidents, everybody looks to be on their game.
Ferrari 430's very quick but so are the Porsches, Darcy's Viper sounds like it's on song and he seems happy.
Utes all quick and very well presented

Can't wait to head back tomorrow.

p.s. Wasn't too cold (from a Victorian perspective) Warren and Matt O'Grady didn't agree with me - if you're a Queenslander it's cold...

Well it surely was an entertaining, although confusing at times, weekend. The one hour enduro was the cause of the confusion as the time keeper down at pit-lane decided that Darcy Russel hadn't completed his stop due to an infrigement, this proved not to be the cause, although at that exact time the safety car had come out leaving race control to communicate to the Safety Car to wave him through. Obviously the pit-crew of Darcy were on the ball and told him to wait for the safety car and pull in behind, in what should be the lead.

And then there we had a one lap dash to the flag after an hour with Darcy winning from Crick, in confusing, but entertaining matters. Although officials also had problems with David Stevens and an oil leak, that wasn't really there. Unfortunately that meatball flag, aided by other issues ruined their race.

But if you wanted biff, barge, and drivers approaching others after the race, then what you would get is Commodore Cup, yes it wasn't the Utes that are stereotyped into bashing each other. Tony Bates was amongst the rucus, and depending on who you talk too, was the cause of two incidents at Honda hairpin in the last, one with Daniel Richert, and the other with Nick Parker. Before that had even happened Marcus Z had speared off the track at T2 on the opening lap, and did so later in the race when struggling with rear grip. Aside from that Marcus had a good weekend, winning the opening two races.

Michael Graham went on to take the round, his first of the year with two seconds and a first. Brett Holdsworth had a weekend to remember, and a weekend to forget, with a gear selector problem during the weekend, and then ended with a second place in the final race. Stephen White had engine drama that naturally forced an engine change (you really had to see it). Then he was stuck in 3rd gear in the first race. And to top it off he was turned around in the final race.

It was certainly exciting, but controversial to say the least.

A very good days racing.

Clucas again proved he is a real talent but an impressive performance from Leanne Tander especially in Race 2 after doing an impersonation of a AA Fueler at the start of Race 1. Also a good run from young Kiwi TRS racer Andy Knight in Race 2 after a troubled weekend for the recently imported Team Astuti car.

Saloon cars and Commodore Cup put up some great racing with a well deserved Round win to Michael Graham in the latter. The Ferraris were a little disappointing in the GT race, perhaps they have yet to tune the cars for the new aero package but I would like to have seen someone like Simonsen in one. Still a good win for Darcy Russel under somewhat farcical circumstances.

The first Performance Car race on Sunday was a beauty and the Utes were entertaining but I still think they should make them faster somehow.

All in all though a good days racing in front of a good crowd.

The Ferrari's had a lot of trouble with their front tyres which really did destroy any hope they had of a good result.

I was going to call this as off-topic, but we've very rarely been ON-topic in this thread

Your kidding right??

And the last 8 posts have been "off topic" ? You start a topic called Philip Island in the CAMS National Round section, and we discuss the Philip Island event for the CAMS National round, and yet you ark up and say that!

Maybe 2-3 were off topic, but gee wiz to say "but we've very rarely been ON-topic in this thread" is a cop-out. Do you want us to start a new topic and call it Philip Island and write the exact same things? And if this topic was just about you and not being able to make it to Philip Island, then stipulate that in the heading.

Im sorry laser, but as a poster I get really fed up with those sort of comments especially when the discussion isn't off topic.

you ark up ? Don't be stupid ...

My opening post says "if you are going or thinking of going please post here or PM me." .... and you KNOW why I was posting that because we have chatted about it over PMs.

For all those who don't know (and I deliberately didn't post this to begin with), this post was about who was attending the event because I had quite a few tickets to give away - all-weekend passes, hence why I asked if people are going to post or PM me.

Thats all well and good, but please do explain to me as why we are not allowed too (As it seems) discuss the event under this topic title? I really dont get that...... cant you just let the discussion go? As the above (above above) comment just comes across as "Well im dissapointed in you guys posting what you have in this topic".

Personally, I didn't see any need for it. But ow well.

If it had been made clear that this was only for those who wanted to get free tix, I wouldn't have posted.... but it seems I wasn't the only one who missed the original intent of the post...?

I can see your point in light of the info given futher below the thread I quoted from but basically the thread has served a greater purpose of covering most of the action at the event in the one thread rather than having to look through Prodie, F3, Ute, etc threads about the same event.

S'pose that's the advantage the UK based numerical Forum has in that it's one forum for all things Australian although I notice they've been shunting F3 topics over the thier Open Wheeler forum lately.

At least it wandered away from your original intention (not that we knew what it was) in a good way instead of the usual slinging mud and rocks (or worse) at each other.

And this closes this thread

Thanks for the PMs, but the round is done & dusted.
