The ACA has set up a system to assist those on the fringe so what's the problem?
Warner (your example) is perfectly entitled to his view.

One of the best things I've seen is Usman looking up a job search site and describing his job as 'cover driver.'

Never said Warner wasn't entitled to his opinion but just that it doesn't help their cause when he would be a CA player that would get all these other income streams over and above what he gets from CA. It would have had a lot more resonance with the Australian public if it came from another CA contracted player or state player that really does rely on this income and doesn't have the endorsements or contracts to play elsewhere that a player like Warner could get. That's all I am saying.

No, Khawaja can easily get a county or IPL deal which can be as much if not more than what CA pay him.

But he doesn't have one now and I don't think he has other endorsements or contracts that you were talking about...
He relies on his income.

I'll give 18 months now that there is a new curator before we see a drop in pitch at the Gabba.

https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/sport/cricket/the-gabba-appoints-new-grounds-guru-20171016-p4ywhl.html

I don't think I have seen such a weak Australian 2nd (or 3rd or 4th or whatever they would be) XI performance against a touring side as I saw yesterday when they slumped to 7 for about 30 at one stage.

Anyone not picking Renshaw first test? Another failure this morning.

Got to give him the first couple of tests. Bancroft did get a 100 today though.

#6 and #7 look up for grabs

Maxwell, Marsh and Cartwright all didn't do enough.
And Wade got bowled off a ball he tried to pull...

RIP LJ - loved and never forgotten.

"It was dry for the second go-around. Grice, nervous, worrying about his Bathurst jinx, ran 2:25.9. The amazing Brock, using every last centimetre of bitumen, yet keeping the car straight and balanced and at full noise, came back with a staggering 2:20.0 as if to say: "Match that". And people just shook their heads, bit their lips and wondered who would be second".

The Peter Brock trophy is now where it belongs.

I'm prepared to play Bancroft. Australia can't afford Renshaw to spend the summer still finding his feet in the international arena.

Enjoyed going to that first day today. That is how you would really like to see cricket played out. Nice and tough with no country giving ab edge.

So it looks like
Warner
Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Hanscomb
S Marsh
Paine
Starc
Cummins
Lyon
Hazlewood

Some interesting selections there if true

Paine in there because of Mark Waugh? I think it will be Nevill. I also don't think you can play the big show.

How about Doolan for no. 3 and Khawaja for no. 6? Won't happen as that double century was against a SA attack that wasn't anything special no matter how you want to rate Mennie and Sayers.

Edit: I was thinking about Bancroft's double century that was against SA. Doolan's one was against Vic and you'll probably agree that is more impressive.

Well the above side was the one rumoured tonight.

Paine selection is a bolter. Didn't play first two shield game and then kept 1st slip next to Wade.

His last first class 100 was in 2006 and he's kept in 3 shield games in the last 2 years

So that and he scored a 50 against England in a recent tour game and a 50 against Victoria and before that his last 50 for Tasmania was not since the 2013/2014 season against a guy in Nevill who is the best gloveman, averaged nearly 70 with the bat during last season's Sheffield Shield season and averaging just under 27 for this season so far which, if we compare to Healy, is only 2 runs shy of his test average. I swear this rumour is just to sell some papers...

Nope, multiple sources now. He's in the side.

Paine is a gun keeper though. But it's a bolt of a selection.

This is a terrible decision. He fluked that 50 against England. It is like the selectors are taking pity on him that Wade took his place as preferred Tasmanian keeper.

And Tim Paine has been selected. I'm stunned.

Even start so far. We need the Aussies to have 2 hours at the poms in the final session to get 3 wickets.
