I thought I would start a new thread for next year given the news that Benji has been thrown a life line by Bennett at the Broncos. Not sure how this decision got past the Broncos' football operations manager because I don't know where he would play without there being an injury to Milford or Hunt.

Also, whilst I take the point from Rabs listening to him on Triple M about this decision that Bennett has previously been a difficult person to read in terms of whether he favours established and experienced players being kept on rather than focusing on the recruitment of youngsters for the club's future (citing an example that he got rid of Wally amongst another that I can't remember), I think these days with Bennett that it is very much the former that he tends to hang onto players more.

I'd suggest that Hunt is on the move then, there's been rumours of Parra.
Benji and Milf together though? I'd say they're too similar and not as structured as they'd like. Who can fight Wayne though? I'm expecting better form from Benji than his Dragons stint.

Uate to Manly and Buhrer to Knights? I don't get that one...

No, no, no, no, no, he isn't kicked out or banned. The wording from the Footy Show Facebook page is that he taking leave to solve "some significant personal issues".

Wasn't the move to The Shire supposed to keep him out of trouble?

Probably suited them, they have Valentine waiting in the wings - if he was anywhere else he'd probably already be #1.

Plus I'm sure that they wouldn't have had to pay out anything that was left on his contract which would have been an added bonus.

Greenberg obviously gets his way with the bulldogs.

Where did Newcastle find the money for Ponga? Aren't they still looked after by the NRL?

I think Newcastle will be at the bottom for a while.

I think so. The problem for StGI has been the halves ever since Soward left - say what you want but in his day he and Hornby ran a straight ship.

Was the 1mil worth it? It was probably the only way to get them out of this rut. No star players = no one wanting to go there.
If they can keep Widdop and Dugan they have a solid spine (Which I still think Rein should be a part of...), and strong enough forward pack. The outside backs have always been underrated IMO, it's just that they never got great ball from Widdop/Marshall.

Your thoughts LG? You seem to be close to the boys at Red Hill.

My thoughts?

The Broncs were never going to fight too hard to keep him.

He has never recovered from "that knock on."

The only way forward for him is a new club.
