Anyone watching the BTCC season this year?
Looking for a good championship finale next weekend at Brands Hatch!
Last few rounds have been great!

I have been buying the highlights dvds from Duke Video over the past few years. Despite some of the driving standards, it is a great category to watch.

Yep, apart from the sound, it is great racing. Also like some of their rules such as extended race if there is a safety car, short races with different tyre options, and bonus points through the race. Do you watch the highlights on iTV? (You can also watch it live and free, if you don't mind staying up the whole night!)

I've always kept up with the BTCC, the racing has always continued to be great, if pretty contrived compared to it's glory days of the 90s..

Should be a good final round, I think Ash Sutton will hold on, amazing to think he is in that position given the way the Subaru's started the year...

I finally watched Brands Hatch...what a final round. Amazing drive from Turkington in the 2nd race to win (despite the bump and run) and to be so close leading in to the final race! Well done to Adrian Flux Racing and Ash Sutton.

The way that the BTCC have got manufacturers involved is far better than what we have here.

Yes, to be 11 manufactures next year with Alfa Romeo returning.

Does anyone know how much the BTCC race cars cost to build?

I'm not sure on specific numbers, but the original intention when the current "Next Generation Touring Cars" regs were announced in 2009 (to be phased in through 2010-11 and took hold for all the front-runners in 2012) was for the the cars & engines to be as much as 50% cheaper than the then-current Super2000 regs as also used in the WTCC at the time.

It likely ended up costing more than the original 50% off, but certainly the new class can be considered a major success

The rules are so good I wish they would get rid of the joker tyres and weight penalties and just let them race.

Why isn't it Toyota Gazoo like their other official motorsport programs? For instance World Endurance Championship, World Rally Championship and now Australian Rally Championship

Possibly the Gazoo brand may not be part of Toyota GB's brand.

Also the livery of the car is going to be a retro livery based on Chris Hodgett's title winning AE86 Corolla's from 1986 and 1987, and Hodgett's team ran under the "Team Toyota GB" moniker back then.
