Surprised no thread on this.
Fernando wins Le Mans. Easily.

Only managed to catch 3-4 hours, but apparently Fernando's night stint was amazing.

Was lucky enough to see this battle:

Bourdais not happy, and something you rarely see in endurance racing (Maybe our slice of David Besnard at Bathurst 2010).

There was even some biff on the opening lap which wounded a few cars.

Great to see Toyota finally get a Le Mans win, fully deserved

Only shame about Alonso winning is that he'll probably not come back now

I know there are some elsewhere suggesting that Toyota only won with no competition, but there were still P1 cars chugging along. P1 last year was very weak, to the point that only a Porsche like performance toppled an LMP2 outright win.

Yeah I don't buy that point of view, the event is there to be won and it's not Toyota's fault no other factory came to play. They've put the hard yards in at Le Mans over the years so the win is well deserved.

There were years in the early 80s when nothing but a Rothmans Porsche was ever going to win, years in the 2000s when nothing but a works Audi would win, not mention 2003 when nothing but a Bentley was ever going to win.

Alot of the criticism has come from people with short memories sadly

The 2020 LMP1 rules sound very familiar. Prototype chassis with factory inspired bodywork, but no aligning them with DPi, or even a thought of letting DPi run at Le Mans.

I recall a similiar idea to this was supposed to be introduced in the mid-2000s as well for Le Mans, the ACO have had it in their heads a for while about road-car inspired Prototypes

Mostert gets the call up to BMW. Seems his pole lap at Bathurst outshined the events of the next day:

And Whincup getting a shot too:

Awesome to see that the B12hr is providing some opportunities out there. Would love to see Lowndes grab something soon.
