If TCR were smart (I'm no marketing manager, or accountant), they should offer Tander a minimal wage and put him in a car. Hell, even Lowndes! People would watch that!
No date clashes with Supercars events.

Definitely. The best way to get the series going is with some familiar names. Put a Lowndes or a Tander in, or even a Caruso to a lesser extent if he's out of a drive, and a lot of people who watch Supercars have an interest.

GRM consider-ed(ing) buying a TCR car for Tander: (Even an S5000)
https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/01/13/tander-still-considering-future-beyond-grm/

Seems GT might have a few nice options on his plate as well as the T8 drive.

A Valvoline Alfa Guilietta wouldn't be too bad a sight.

If they were smart they'd have done a few things differently, in my opinion

Have to agree with this. The main reason why all these series end up amateur type series is the management making poor decisions especially in the early days.

It appears we may see a Valvoline Alfa or two.

My interest in TCR just raised a little.
GRM should push like crazy to get GT/Lowndes in the car.

If they don't have any international stuff on, this could be the doorway to overseas TCR stuff?

It's still 4 more than S5000, and five more than LMP3.

14 would be a better start than the F4s and SUtes but compared to the bangin start the 86s had it isn't even a ripple...

How many of those cars have drivers confirmed oldtimer?

Sonic - 14 would have to be bare bare bare minimum, but to be taken seriously you'd need 20 by the end of the year.
Both numbers are a tall order for a category starting completely from scratch. When was the last new series (non one-make) to start up from scratch with no base of competitors already existing?

Work with Rod Salmon and TCR Australia would already have something approaching a full grid

No idea!

My experience is that there are a lot of drivers wanting to race and negotiations with sponsors and drivers will be well underway. These people are not importing cars without some racing plans. Some are clearly pay drives.

TCRs have been racing overseas for a while. I would not be surprised to find some privateers purchasing 2018 spec pre-raced cars, which may be cheaper packages.

It could still cost $200,000 plus with spares and that's a lot of money for a teenager to find. Aspirational Daddies may be prominent.
