Ford Oz not going anywhere. The irony here is that they were once the smallest employer of the 3 car companies. Now they actually have more employees than when they were building cars.

Ford Oz has somewhere around 2000 employee mostly engineers. They are the global engineering lead for Ranger, Bronco and others which I wonít name just yet. Their presence here is unchanged. Doesnít mean they will continue with Supercars or what that morphs into, but their presence and dealerships arenít going anywhere, just yet even though they really only are the Ranger car company these days.

If Ford continue in Australia, that is. They face many of the same economic realities as GM/GMH.

Might turn out to be a good thing for the Series. They were always pretty stupid to rely on manufacturers. Now just put out a sensible set of rules that anyone can build a car for without manufacturer involvement at a sensible cost. That might be difficult though.

Might we see Opels with Opel badges on them in 2021? Opel will be free to market the car here as it won't be competing with GM. Its recently been updated in europe so, and theres a fully homogilated supercar ready to do the advertising. If I were a Holden team I'd be on the phone to PSA

If memory serves, PSA had to pay some some of royalty back to GM for cars produced using that design. If that's the case, I would have thought it in PSA's best interest to discontinue it ASAP so no chance of them saving ZB runners for 2021.

OPEL are as dead as Holden in this country, they ain't coming back. Without Buick and now Commodore, the ZB will be cut from PSA production as we type! The Buick didn't sell in lhd and Insignia isn't economically feasible on its own!
Maybe 888 can convince KIA to get involved, the Stinger is about the same size and config as a ZB!

New Commodore Hey! So you used your own money? Would you like to buy a used bridge?

Ford are going to invest 500 million dollars in australia and hire some of the former gm staff.

This would have to be the only silver lining.
Forces the series to find a complete overhaul of the rules.
Without Holden, I don't see the 5L as a relevant option (it was already hanging on nothing but legacy anyway).

RWD is a must!
If we were to pick up others rules, I'd prefer GT4 over GT3.

They changed the name from v8supercars to just supercars to accommodate different engine sizes, but no-one has made the leap yet. This could get the ball rolling to go in a more exciting direction with gt4 rules.

I wonder if the Mercedes might make a return with 888. Roland could entice a decent manufacturer involvement with the team's success. I'm guessing Toyota or Kia though.

To dare is to do.

Iím reading lots of articles where GM execs. Continue pushing the special vehicles line and corvette is very much in the discussion. From what Iíve read I believe WAU will become the special vehicles lead and Gen3 will accomodate Corvette to allow a transition from Opels to corvettes.

How ironic if this plays out, RD may well become a customer to Walkinshaw..

Ford fans be proud. History of Australian motor racing shows Ford has been and will always be superior. They have to slow them down when they get serious about racing. The Phase 4 scared the **** out of people, they banned it. Sierra gets called on a technicality, Falcon EF "...had its wings clipped to make Holden part of the show", AU not allowed to show it's potential, Falcon BF gets clipped. Mustang Is so good Supercars made up a rule and gets a bag of cement in the roof, and it still wins.

Pretty well captures Rolands behaviour over the last 10 years!
