Finally got a response regarding Bathurst camping for this year - relating to the possible cancellation of the event due to Covid.

quote:
The decision to cancel or postpone any event remains with the promoter and the venues. If Bathurst is cancelled, you will receive a full refund from Ticketek. If Ticketek is notified of any changes to this event we will communicate these with you. More information can be found here.

In regards to the campsite still being yours for the 2021 event, we unfortunately don't have that information right now. If the event ends up being cancelled, the promoters will let us know if that is the case and we will notify customers as soon as we can.

Despite the last sentence, it sounds like it's all go ahead until it's formally cancelled.
You'd have to assume if you bought your spot back - or bought a new spot - you'd be refunded (if cancelled) and hold the rights for the next year.
Otherwise it would effectively wipe the slate clean for 2021, like hell it will.

I do HOPE if they refund they still keep the rite of refusal for sure cannot see why not?? but there WILL be a riot if everyone has to reapply from scratch.

My concern also is I have front row grandstand tickets have had same seat for a decade they operate same system as camping that we have first dibs on the seat, I too will be ropable if I LOOSE THAT SEAT. don't mind them keeping my money as I have paid even have the ticket.

with only a bit over 3000 confirmed cases in Australia, there still another 25000000 to go, I can not see any sports happening until the end of next year at the earliest.

Bit of an update - 2020 will be treated as a 'leap year' for campers.
2021 right of refusal will be based off 2019 allocations.

A good result for those a bit iffy on the whole thing.
I've got my spot sewn up for this year, if there's a crowd I'll be there.

Looks like all camping has been canned.
Capped numbers each day for reserved seating only.

I'm out. If I'm just going to sit in a chair all day, may as well stay home.
Kudos to Supercars for making the most with the Gov rules.

could have done much better than that.

pre-sold car lots across the top... could have had at least another 1-2 thousand there...

another 1000 inside the chase spread out... another 500 outside...

another 1000 at least on the inside of turn 1 going up mountain straight...

all sit in the one spot for the day with plenty of room to not intermix with others...

I suspect Sonic they were working around the 4000 as the number they were told some time ago, now its being raised as of 1 Oct may have caught them out??? this was not predicted and in reality couldn't be. They have a big admin nightmare now trying to get current ticket holders sorted in such a real short time too.

Is it disappointing and frustrating, hell yes. But the decision has been made and that's that. This year would have
marked my 20th straight Bathurst 1000 attendance, but alas I can't go 5km from my own driveway let-alone get
across the NSW border so I won't be able to ever celebrate that milestone.
It sucks big time, but I have reluctantly accepted it.

Maybe they could have done better than what they have come up with, but unless anyone was a part of the decision
making on this event with SC, the NSW government and the relative health departments, who really knows exactly
what they were allowed and not allowed to do???

People just need to accept that this is the plan for Bathurst for this year.

How come the NRL can have more numbers in a smaller space?
