Teams losing their best players from club rounds for SoO has been part of the scene for almost forty years. It's usually the top teams, so while some see it as an equaliser, Bennett should want to see his best players get to play in League's biggest games. He's used to it anyway, having coached Brisbane for so long.
Ivan Cleary... As a Tigers man, I was sorry we let him go - but not so sorry now., although maybe Gus was drilling holes in the hull. |

That Roosters v Knights game was the first one I've watched in a while and it wasn't too bad. There were some questionable calls though. No penalty for that late shot and headbutt on Ponga, and awarding Klemmer a Sin Bin with 20 seconds to go in the game? |

The Knights creamed the Roosters. They found some big holes in their defence fairly easily. I also thought that JWH's hit on Ponga was totally uncalled for. He had tons of time to pull out of it. It was almost as though he didn't decide to hit him until after the ball was gone. |

Same thing has been happening for ages LG. Nothing out of the ordinary, but definitely deserved a penalty.
I wouldn’t take too much out of that game. Roosters had both their primary halves out, and weakened their left edge by moving Latrell. Gus said it best (for once), no need to weaken one position to minorly strengthen another. Lamb/Lam should just start, with Latrell at centre. Jake Friend still to return too. A timely reminder that it won’t be easy for the Roosters, still plenty of footy to go.
What a vibe in Newcastle right now. How is it DJRFord?

Origin contenders are falling like flies! I hope I recognise the teams next week. DCE will be playing and will be captain. |

I was out all day, so I recorded the Parra/Brisbane final and just watched it now. Dear, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear (as someone would say). I tipped Parra, but no-one saw that coming. 58-0! At least that first game at Bank West: Parra/Tigers is off the record books now. |

So who do we have for the weekend? The Raiders love a close one and the Roosters tend to blow teams away... what will it be?

All the sentimentality is with the Raiders but I'm not sure they can do it. |

The betting odds are around $1.40 Roosters, $3.10 Raiders and that’s about what I think. Both are solid in defence, Roosters have more attack. I don’t care who wins, but I’d rather see a fast, attacking game than a solid, defensive slog. Roosters to win. |

I’d prefer he wasn’t playing at all. JWH that is. |

Burgess retiring due to a piss poor excuse rather then standing down due to numerous alleged DV offences. Lucky social media was not around 70s, 80s and 90s |
