I wish Kostecki every success at DJR. Unfortunately, the 2024 driver lineup seem to be the punching bags of the field. I hope it doesn't happen in 2025. Of course, it is better for drivers to stay out of mid-pack and tail end stouches.

DJR has an excellent long term fan base (almost 50 years for me) and more wins are needed.

That is a very good point. Some long-term drivers are well past their peak years and are not achieving better than consistent mid-field performances but with an occasional good performance. They keep younger drivers out of permanent seats which may be good or bad depending on your point of view and loyalty.

Having said that: there are at least one third of current drivers that did not even reach consistent mid field performance but keep their seats by paying for their drives with personal sponsors or nepotism.

I personally feel that it is a shame when talented drivers are kept out of a restricted private entertainment venture with total race entries are limited and predetermined.


I much prefer the old style whereby ALL drivers with eligible cars contest the grid and ipso facto some miss out regardless of their historic performances and sponsorship.

He's had 3 chances already & failed at all of them, time to give it up & become a co-driver only.

To my mind, Stanaway is fast but a bit erratic and I hope he does well as PremiAir number 2 driver.

if we were to judge drivers with 3 or more years of failure drives, then there would be probably the majority of the field.

TCR managed to field only 12 cars with one third of the field Rogers entries.

Can this series seriously survive?

Maybe owners must be thinking of selling cars while there are still overseas buyers or returning leased cars.

I also note that Honda is ending sponsorship at the end of the year and some of the cars represent Companies that have low road car sales in Australia.

It has got to the point where TCR series success does not help drivers CVs and potential drivers are looking at spending their sponsorship dollars in another series.

Driver quality and ability cannot be paratised. I believe co-drivers (and drivers) made more difference than Aero variation.

I am impressed that Cameron has pole for Super 2 with a time of 2:04.7010

Based on those times, the quickest Super 1 qualifier, Payne, would only be about eighth with 2:05.6452 in a combined session.

It seems to show that the loss of Aero with the new cars makes a real difference.

I am also impressed with the massive rebuilds overnight with 17 and 20 and Super 2 rebuilds with less facilities and, I suspect, a lot of volunteers and part time crew.

As I understand it, the Finals is just a mathematic calculation.

The races are still held. All drivers are racing as hard as they can.

The season winner is still the season winner. The enduro winner is just another trophy.

The finals series is just another trophy, but with restricted participation.

As long as Supercars want to hand out more prizes, then I think there should be another separate one for the Australian Touring Car Championship consisting of ONE race in each state and counted by MA.

I just love the terminology of BOM prognostications.

Tomorrow there is a 30% chance of rain, which statically translates to 70% change that it will not rain. ::)

Also 30 minutes of rain between 2 am and 2.30 am (e.g.) is taken as a successful prophecy that it will rain.
