Jett and Mason moving up. Kai Allen sticks around, as does Murray and Bates.

AIM has quite the engineering team too, with Erik Pender and Adam de Borre.

Coke still has some Motorsport budget:

And in a PremiAir run car...

Young Mason Kelly can't catch a break at the moment. Some his fault, others not.
Good news is he's genuinely fast, just need to clean up the edges.

He drove very well today. Disappointed for him to have his day end the way it did.

As for Cam's big one... If you know a driver is there and you choose to move and 'pit' yourself how is it anyone else's fault? Cam said in his interview he KNEW Cooper was there after he had a poor run on 2 previous corners but he still made the decision to move over. Disappointed that his car is messed up but he made his own mess this time. It's on him. Thankfully the damage was limited to his own car and nobody was injured.

Murray has been DSQ'd from the race, with in-car footage showing there was no overlap before the contact:
https://speedcafe.com/murray-disqualified-for-mcleod-rollover/

Tell you what though, no overlap, there must've been a bee's dick in it before contact was made.
As McLeod was moving over he must've known it was going to be seriously close, and by the same token, Murray could've made the decision that it was going to end in a big one.
Two people racing for sheep stations - as it should be! With the red flag coming out, McLeod holds his 3rd for the race.

as I noted elsewhere, the danger in this is that the penalty is for the end result and not for the infringement.

so now, for consistency with penalties, EVERY time that there is contact between cars and someone goes off track they MUST be disqualified from the race.

welcome to racing Australia style.

Having watched and watched and re-watched the incident:
https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=798859631916788

I actually agree with the stewards findings. He was never fully to the right of the car head. Therefore, never actually had a genuine overlap.

Agree with you Sonic, every moment similar to this has had a different finding.

I just saw the video clip too. And while it did make me lean a little toward Cooper being at fault the whole thing was over in a heartbeat.

first touch at 18 secs, BOTH drivers had the opportunity at that point to alter their actions. coke car maybe 1/4 to 1/3 coming across?

at 19 secs the coke car actually has moved back to the left

but then came back across and no saving from there.

although you perhaps may have lifted once the car started to go over the nose?

Certainly over in a flash, and both could've done something about it.

Broken conrod that dropped into the sump caused the fire.

It would seem that the Kelly's operate from their Braeside facility?
I remember when they sold there was commentary around them keeping certain machining bits and pieces and the engine dept? It would seem they also kept some workshop space.

Not sure about that Sman. I thought Grove was running out of Braeside. Perhaps they are leasing it from the Kelly's?

By looks of the photo, both Grove's and Kelly's run from the ex-Kelly (or current Kelly) workshop.

the different visions give very different views.

wondering if the wide view judicial camera makes it look like he was further across than he was prior to contact

https://www.supercars.com/news/murray-responds-to-perth-super2-disqualification?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2ET7g-_g3i3ev6Rd0q0b_SH_kEPvKuQBAK_DM2g95n7HsKDwZ8OxsfM0Q_aem_AZYeSSWiGbnlz05vAzzjHNm4GbdYxv0btXm0ZN9r_GOlTNmd8uqjSAkM6TaT3jKuVZEGJ3R_igxzzFURW-NYYibb

pretty clear at 28 secs in with contact that he was not in front as the judicial video suggests

(I toggled it to watch @ 0.5 speed)

thoughts?

Junior Junior Johnson is taking a break to focus on mental health. Great to see a young guy speaking out about this topic. Hope he improves.

So the Kelly's are selling up. Thought they would've given Holdsworth the job:
https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/ex-afl-player-selling-bathurst-winners-workshop/

Doesn't outline if they previously split their warehouse/space with the Grove's (who are on the same block), and whether they'll keep any moving forward. You'd assume they'd have something in mind with the Super2 team and Mason.

Seems they used it for storage (surely taking a monthly fee), as well as car prep/machining facilities.

Kudos to him for knowing when to apply the brakes.
He'd have the weight of the world on his shoulders given his bloodline. He certainly gets as much media attention as any in the categories he'd been in.

Aaron Cameron and Zach Bates going at it for the title tomorrow. Bates looks safe as long as he finishes in the top 3, which should be fine going by the paces they put on 4th (inc. Allen) onwards today

Watching Aaron Cameron has been enjoyable. Started the season as a consistent performer, bringing the car home and maximising on others misfortunes. Just lately he's been able to turn the wick up and arguably be the form driver.

Something about trying to win this series twice. Dumbbell couldn't do it for a variety of reasons, and Allen looked to have this thing wrapped up until his Bathurst mishap.
