I think that this news is rather ironic.

Tesla Cars are frequently purchased or used by green and left-wing political supporters including top level Green Party leaders.

Yet, every single one of them is ,collectively, financially contributing to the election campaign of the allegedly right-wing Donald Trump. :o

QuoteTech billionaire Elon Musk has pledged his support to former US President Donald Trump.

Mr Musk has pledged to donate to a super PAC that supports Donald Trump $US45 million a month, leading up to the election.

The tech billionaire had formally endorsed the former US President after an attempted assassination on Mr. Trump's life.

Wow.  I thought this post was going to be about Ralf Schumacher coming out of the closet and telling everyone he is now swinging the paddle from the other side of the wickets.

Nonetheless, to each their own.  He is probably getting more than I am albeit I want none of what he gets.

Good to see you guys are tuning in to our election.  It is going to be an interesting four months to say the least.

We are being bombarded here with your upcoming election. There is so much media coverage here you would think it was our election

dunno what you guys have to vote for really? the actual people who are up for election don't seem 'voteworthy' but there are no other choices.

did make me think of the Obama's... I reckon if Michelle ran she'd have to be a half decent chance against Trump? (think they are on opposing sides? LOL)

but I don't know the nitty gritty of those parties. it is interesting to me in US politics that it is all about the POTUS and everyone bags/supports the top dog but there never seems to be much talk about the parties (at least that I see over here)

leaves me wondering... are the Trump voters voting for the party and what is promised (more than the man)? and ditto for Biden?

I suspect that a great number of people will simply not vote for either.

It seems that all over the world, the governing party are being given the boot as people aren't happy with the current government, i.e. UK, France. and other European countries with no regard to left or right wing. People are just truly pissed off and hope for the best.

Add a likely exit of the ALP in Queensland, Victoria and maybe Australia if polls are any indication.

PS: A former Labor Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, or as he is widely known, Rudd the Dudd, has been reported as backing Trump policies. He must like the prestige of being an Ambassador.

You didn't have to change the title of the thread from The Irony to what it is now, Steve!  ;D

We over here are very polarized politically these days.  There is no longer a middle of the road.  With that the parties both seem to be acting like two powerful magnets trying to pull people in.

The Republicans are now molded in Trump's image.  With Biden's senility now coming into question it will be interesting to see if the Democrats give him the bum's rush in the 11th hour and go with a new candidate.  But the Democratic Convention is coming up in a few weeks and we'll see who they give the baton to.  If Joe is not going to be the candidate it will be his own decision.  I can never remember a convention where the sitting President did not get his party's nomination.  But the Dems have to come up with someone for Vice President Harris has essentially been a silent partner the last four years.

Thanks for tuning in!  I'll stop in daily to get my news briefs from you guys!  Over here the news channels are polarized just like the parties!

Anyways, sorry to hijack the thread and get us all off topic.

Who knows where the chips might fall, Trev.  It does look like to me that President Biden is somehow going to go to the sideline.  Michelle Obama.... VP Kamala Harris..... California Governor Gavin Newsome..... Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.... or do they ask for someone to take one for the team, punt the ball, give up the 2024 game, and come back with a much better chance in 2028 with one of the above?

Here's one from Elon Musk (the original topic):   ;D

What's ironic, is that Musk wants to donate to someone who has repeatedly rubbished EV's and (but?) who recently stated he supported Chinese manufacturers setting up factories in America, in competition with Tesla.
JD Vance has also stated he's in favor of giving subsidies to manufacturers of fossil fuelled vehicles. (He probably also thinks he's anti socialism).

And by donating to the Trump campaign, Musk alienates a large part of his customer base.

Of course he's probably just trying to buy Trump.

That's true about Musk, but that donation is coming from the money paid for by Tesla vehicle purchasers.

but does the party have enough nous to put up a candidate who can not only do the job but garner enough public support in the time left to topple Trumpski?
